Transform any room with professional lighting installation by Safe Electrical Solutions. From elegant chandeliers to functional under-cabinet strips, our ESA-licensed electricians handle every type of fixture — safely and cleanly.

Every Type of Lighting, Installed Right

Lighting shapes the feel of a space more than almost any other element. The right fixture, placed correctly and wired safely, turns a functional room into a comfortable one. Safe Electrical Solutions has been installing lighting in Toronto and GTA homes and businesses for over 20 years — everything from a single pendant replacement to a full multi-zone lighting system for a new build.

All installations are performed by ESA-licensed Master Electricians, pulled with the proper permits where required, and left clean when we go. No shortcuts, no unlicensed subcontractors.

Lighting Services We Offer

Chandelier & Pendant Installation

Chandeliers and pendant fixtures add drama and style but require careful structural assessment — many older boxes are not rated for heavy hanging fixtures. We assess the existing junction box, upgrade it to a rated fan/fixture box if needed, and install your fixture cleanly with proper wiring and support. We also handle chain and cable adjustments and canopy cover installation.

Recessed & Pot Light Installation

Recessed lighting (pot lights) is one of the most requested upgrades in GTA homes. We install LED recessed fixtures in finished and unfinished ceilings, run new circuits as needed, and provide clean, symmetrically spaced layouts that look professional. See our dedicated pot light installation page for full details.

Under-Cabinet Lighting

Under-cabinet strip lighting improves kitchen task lighting and adds ambient warmth. We install hardwired LED strip systems (preferred over plug-in for a clean look), route wiring through the cabinet interior, and connect to a switched circuit so the lights work independently from your ceiling lighting.

Outdoor & Landscape Lighting

Exterior lighting improves security, curb appeal, and usability of outdoor spaces. We install porch lights, wall sconces, pathway lighting, garage floodlights, and low-voltage landscape systems. All outdoor work uses weatherproof fixtures, proper GFCI-protected circuits, and corrosion-resistant connectors for the Canadian climate.

Ceiling Fan Installation

Ceiling fan installation requires a properly rated junction box and often a new dedicated switch or smart dimmer. We install the box, run wiring, mount the fan, and set up the controls — including smart home integration if requested.

Accent & Cove Lighting

Accent lighting highlights artwork, architectural features, or creates indirect ambient glow in living spaces. We install track lighting, directional spotlights, cove LED strips, and toe-kick lighting. Whether you're designing a high-end renovation or simply updating a tired room, we help you achieve the look you want with reliable, safe wiring.

Commercial Lighting

We install office, retail, restaurant, and industrial lighting — fluorescent-to-LED retrofits, track systems, emergency egress lighting, and exterior commercial signage lighting. All commercial work is fully permitted and meets the Ontario Electrical Safety Code.

Why Hire a Licensed Electrician for Lighting?

Many homeowners attempt light fixture replacements as a DIY project — and minor swaps of similar-rated fixtures on existing boxes are generally safe. But anything involving a new circuit, a heavier fixture that requires a rated box, outdoor installation, or work in a panel is regulated electrical work in Ontario and must be performed by a licensed ESA electrician.

Beyond the safety and code requirements, hiring a licensed electrician for lighting installation means:

  • Proper load calculation so new fixtures don't trip existing circuits
  • Clean, code-compliant wiring hidden in walls and ceilings
  • Junction boxes rated for the fixture weight you've chosen
  • GFCI protection in wet locations (bathrooms, kitchens, outdoors)
  • Work that won't void your homeowner's insurance or create problems at resale

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a permit to install a new light fixture?
Replacing an existing fixture on the same circuit with a similar one typically does not require a permit. However, adding new circuits, installing fixtures in new locations, or doing any work that involves the electrical panel requires an ESA permit in Ontario. We assess what's required during the estimate and handle all permit coordination.
How long does a typical lighting installation take?
A single fixture swap takes 30–60 minutes. A full room of pot lights (8–12 fixtures with a new circuit) typically takes 3–5 hours. A comprehensive multi-room lighting upgrade for a renovation is usually a 1–2 day project. We provide a time estimate at booking so you can plan accordingly.
Can you install smart lighting and dimmer controls?
Yes. We install smart dimmers, programmable switches, and home automation-compatible lighting controls from brands including Lutron, Leviton, and Decora. If you already have a smart home hub (Google Home, Apple HomeKit, Amazon Alexa), we can configure your new lighting to integrate with it.
My chandelier is very heavy — is that a problem?
Not if it's properly supported. Standard ceiling boxes are rated for fixtures up to 35 lbs. Heavier chandeliers require a fan-rated or heavy-fixture box, which we can install into virtually any ceiling construction. We always assess the support structure before installation and upgrade the box if needed — this is included in our quote.
Do you supply fixtures or do I need to provide them?
We do both. If you already have your fixture, we'll install it. If you'd like recommendations, we work with several suppliers and can source fixtures for you. For larger projects we often recommend buying your own fixtures so you control the budget and style, and we provide the installation labour.
